Match report

Bath Rugby defeated Exeter Chiefs 40–34 at The Recreation Ground on Friday evening to maintain their perfect start to the Premiership Rugby season. The six-point victory extends Bath's winning run to two matches and keeps them top of the table after two rounds.

Exeter Chiefs, meanwhile, have lost both their opening fixtures and sit seventh in the ten-team competition. Bath now lead the head-to-head series 6–4 across ten meetings, having avenged last June's narrow 27–26 defeat at home to the Chiefs.
