History

The club grew out of the Drafna Sport Club, founded in Bussum on 14 January 1933, which merged a year later with a Hilversum club to form the Gooische Rugby Club. It won its first national title in 1952 and four more in 2009, 2013, 2018 and 2024 — the last a 22-12 final win over Haagsche RC in coach Gareth Gilbert's farewell match after 21 years at the club. 't Gooi is based in Naarden, with its clubhouse De Poort beside the pitches; its crest shows a lion holding a shield with the Naarden town gate and the year 1933.
