History
Ascrum was founded on 1 November 1962 at the Amsterdam student corps' society, after a sevens tournament in Delft inspired corps member Olaf Meyer to start a rugby club; first called 'Scrum', it became Ascrum at its founding meeting. Its red and white stand for the corps and Amsterdam, and black for the corps' jackets and the members' early kit. The student club owns its clubhouse, 't IJzeren Huisch, plays at the NRCA in Amsterdam, and returned to the Ereklasse in 2026 after an unbeaten Eerste Klasse season capped by a 57-10 promotion win over Bredase RC. Former player Bernard le Roux went on to win 47 caps for France.
