History

AAC's rugby section was founded on 22 October 1930 by H. Bohlmeijer and T. Wijch within the Amsterdam athletics club AAC, and is still run as a section of it. It won eleven national titles between 1940 and 1977 and the first Dutch sevens title in 1953, and it founded the Amsterdam Sevens in 1972. AAC has played at Sportpark De Eendracht since 1965, where the National Rugby Centre (NRCA Stadium) opened in 1997. Women have played at the club since 1984, and the women's team has won eight national titles, most recently in 2025.
