About the Currie Cup
The Currie Cup is South Africa's historic provincial championship and one of the oldest domestic competitions in world rugby, first contested in the 1890s. It is now played through the southern winter, running alongside the United Rugby Championship, and remains a proving ground for the country's next generation of players. 9 teams take part in the 2026 season. Griquas are the reigning champions.
