History
The Racing Club de France was founded in Paris in 1882 as an athletics club and added rugby in 1890. It won the very first French championship in 1892, then the titles of 1900, 1902, 1959 and 1990 — the last with the playful generation of Franck Mesnel and Jean-Baptiste Lafond. Its professional side merged with US Métro in 2001, became Racing Métro 92 in 2005 and Racing 92 in 2015. After Jacky Lorenzetti took over in 2006, it won Pro D2 in 2009 and its sixth French title in 2016, beating Toulon at the Camp Nou in Barcelona before 99,124 spectators, a world record for a club match. It lost the Champions Cup finals of 2016, 2018 and 2020. Since December 2017 it has played indoors in Nanterre, at the arena first called U Arena, then Paris La Défense Arena and, since July 2026, Plenitude Arena.
