History
Union Bordeaux Bègles was born in 2006 from the coming together of two historic Gironde clubs: Stade Bordelais, French champions seven times between 1899 and 1911, and the CABBG of Bègles, champions in 1969 and 1991. Renamed UBB in May 2008 under its new president Laurent Marti, it reached the Top 14 in 2011 and has drawn the biggest crowds in French rugby since 2014 — in Europe since 2015 — at the Stade Chaban-Delmas, an art deco ground opened in 1924. It was top of the Top 14 when the 2019-20 season was stopped, lost the 2024 and 2025 finals to Toulouse, and won the Champions Cup in 2025 and again in 2026.
