Rugby Ottignies Club

History

The Rugby Ottignies Club (ROC) was founded in 1977 by Serge Preud'Homme, Michel Simon and Jacques Delreux, and was the first Belgian club to run a rugby school from the day it started; it began with 35 members on the plaine des Coquerées. Its first title came from its U13s in 1980. The seniors first reached the First Division in 1999 and, from 2002, stayed there for ten seasons with the generation born in 1982-84. Since 2014 the club has had its own grounds at Lauzelle — two grass pitches, an artificial one, a clubhouse and a gym. ROC won the second division in 2015, signed a partnership with Stade Toulousain in 2019 and in 2021 took a new emblem, the Rokh, a legendary bird strong enough to lift elephants.
