History

Rugby Club Soignies was started in 1973 by Claude Catteau, a PE teacher at the Collège Saint-Vincent who had played at Kituro and Frameries, with Ghislain Ferain and Ronald Sellar; it entered competition in 1974 with players mostly from the college's sports stream. Juniors followed in 1977 and the younger age groups in 1980, while the 'Verts et Blancs' moved between meadows in Neufvilles and Soignies — including a field with a stable for a changing room on the chemin du Perlonjour — until the move to the chemin Tour Lette in 1995, where members built the clubhouse themselves. The first trophy was the Belgian Cup in 2010 (13-9 against Dendermonde), followed by the Super Cup that year and a second Cup in 2018. After six lost championship finals between 2015 and 2025, Soignies became Belgian champion for the first time in 2026, beating Boitsfort 30-22.
