History

Dendermonde Rugby Club was founded in 1962 as SOS Rugby Sint-Gillis. It won the second division in 1970 and 2010, then broke the hold of the Brussels and Walloon clubs with the league and cup double in 2011-12. Seven Belgian titles in all — 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2023, 2024 and 2025, the 2024 final won 24-19 against Soignies on a golden point — and two Belgian Cups (2012, 2016) make it the most successful club since 2012. Since 2017 it has been a global partner club of Leicester Tigers.
