History

BUC grew out of ASUB, the university club of the Université Libre de Bruxelles: in 1963-64 its second team, known as the BUC, beat ASUB's unbeaten first XV at the Tir National and so handed the title to Anderlecht. The next season the BUC set up on its own at the Stade Georges Pètre in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode — first as 'ASUB St-Josse', then as BUC St-Josse — with university ideals, inter-faculty rugby at the ULB and a youth school. Its peak came when it won the Belgian title and the Belgian Cup in the same season, beating its old rival by 44 points in the final at Casteau. Former members were also there at the start of Forest, Boitsfort and Ottignies.
