History

Boitsfort Rugby Club was founded in 1970 by a group of rugby enthusiasts, among them Anderlecht players who worked for the insurer Royale Belge and had followed their employer to Watermael-Boitsfort. The start was hard: no ground of its own, shared football pitches at the Stade des Trois Tilleuls, and a split after two years that took the president and most of the experienced players off to found the Forest club. The rugby school opened in 1973 became one of the largest in the country, and in 1976 the members built their own pitch on waste ground at the edge of the Sonian Forest — today's Plateau de la Foresterie, with an artificial pitch since 2014. Promoted to the First Division that year, Boitsfort went on to win 16 Belgian titles between 1990 and 2010 and 15 Belgian Cups; its women's team, started in 2007, has been champion three times.
